Another firm family fave is Woodlands Family Theme Park in Dartmouth. With 90m acres of indoor and outdoor attractions, 16 family rides and 10 play zones, you’ll need a holiday to get over all the excitement.

For a slightly more relaxed day then a visit to Berry Pomeroy Castle is just what the doctor ordered. It is said to be the most haunted Castle in Devon so as long as visit during the day, your blood pressure should be fine. It is set in gorgeous woodland and is a great venue for exploring ruins too.

If the sun is shining then you might want to take the opportunity to cool off in the UK’s largest outdoor waterpark in Paignton. Splashdown Quaywest has 8 slides and rides, Rapids and a Surf Lagoon flume. Small kids and big kids will love this wacky, water fun.

For a more sedate and culinary experience then why not head to one of the oldest pubs in the land, The Cridford Inn at Newton Abbot. This country Inn dates back to 825AD and is a beautiful setting for a lovely lunch and some selfies!

Have a day out at the races and visit Exeter Racecourse. The course overlooks some stunning Devon scenery and has excellent facilities.

Totnes Castle is well worth a visit as it one of the best surviving motte and bailey Norman castle in the UK. Powderham Castle, situated in Exeter, is another historic delight some 600 years old and still standing strong.

If you love walking then make sure you take in the South West Coast Path. A new part of the walk opened in 2005 and travels from Strete to Stoke Fleming. The route has some incredible views and is dog-friendly as well.
